I’m a summer person by nature. I always tell Chrysa that I’m solar powered. Naturally, I get a little sad when the weather starts to change, and fall begins to show itself. I do try and distract myself from the shorter days, and the cooler temps, by running. Gone are the 5K training days. Autumn brings long 8, 10, 13 mile distances.
As I begin to put more mileage in, I start to convince myself that I can get away with eating less healthy food. It all seems to make sense. More miles = more calories burned = Jesse stuffs his face with fried food and beer. Clearly this is medically sound reasoning. With that being said I’ve started cramming my face with tenderloin sandwiches.

The End Zone – Lafayette
Football season is back so I visited one of the local sports bars. I sat down solo and ordered lunch while watching the Buffalo Bills on one of the many TV’s. Unsurprisingly there was only one other Bills fan in the place. My sandwich arrived and I was pretty happy with the results. I would classify the sandwich as – Good. It was a little greasy, not unexpected from sports bar food. The bun was maybe the best part, buttery and flaky. Overall the sandwich lacked any handmade quality. However, it was cheap, and it hit the spot while watching the game.
Thirty Six Saloon – Rockville
After visiting Turkey Run State Park (Turkey Run Post) Chrysa and I needed to get some food. We drove to nearby Rockville and stopped into this really big, new looking bar, with incredible woodwork. We sat at the bar and my sandwich was on the menu, so I had to order it. This one was a bit of a surprise. The pork was not super crispy but it did have a really nice peppery flavor. The primary flavors in the tenderloin sandwich is usually the pork, and the slight oily taste that you get with all fried foods. The pepper flavor was a nice surprise. This one gets high marks from me.
Upland Brewing – Bloomington
We stopping into Upland on a rainy evening after one of our many day trips. As soon as we sat down I knew what I was going to order. I got my old favorite, and it blew me away. This tenderloin was all things to all people. It had good bun to pork ratio and it wasn’t greasy at all. The breading was flavorful and it really complimented the pork. This one was really well balanced. Certainly one of my favorites.
