Chrysa and I run. It’s keeps us in shape and it’s a great thing to do together. It’s also one of the cheapest forms of exercise. All you really need is a pair of running shoes (or not if you’re one of those barefoot folks) and a road/trail to run on.
My non-runner friends and my co-workers always seem to ask why? Some folks have even asked if we are being chased. Other than no, we are not being chased, the answer can be complicated and varied.
Why run? Well how about meeting amazing people who share an interest. Here in Raleigh Chrysa and I have met the crew from the River Run Club. Talk about sharing interests these guys check all the boxes.

- Running the Black Mountain Monster Race of Awesome
Wait…What was that last one? Yep…We are going to camp out in the mountains and run a timed ultra marathon. Chrysa will run the 12 hour division. Being only half crazy I will run the 6 hour event. The River Run Club will be there in force to support each other and cheer each other on. They will be there for the joy and the pain. They will be there for all the ups and downs (literally, it’s on a mountain). How awesome is that?
I bet I will learn a lot about my River Run Club friends at the Black Mountain Monster. I know I have learned a lot about myself since starting to run. I learned that the tent I found in the attic still has all its parts. Better still I learned that I still know how to put it together. I even learned that a three man tent fits on my deck.
What will you learn by running?
